Border crossings at Nogales ports of entry bring millions of Mexican nationals to Arizona each year. With the visitors comes business.

The border city of Nogales, Ariz., relies on these visitors to contribute to its revenue through sales tax, but in the past few years border crossings at Nogales ports of entry have decreased. With the bollard fence and increased border security, more than just the economy has been affected.

Community members reminisce on how Nogales, Ariz., and Nogales, Sonora, Mexico — Ambos Nogales, or both Nogales — used to have a closer-knit relationship because of the ease of crossing the border. But despite the onslaught of economic hardship and negative political portrayals, the community of Ambos Nogales remains united across the dividing line.
