Ambos Nogales looks at the economic and social dynamics of the twin cities of Nogales, Ariz., and Nogales, Sonora, Mexico. The two communities may be split by “la línea” — the line, as locals refer to the dividing border — but they function interdependently and cohesively.
The story of Ambos Nogales is one that is rarely told. It is a story of symbiosis, not of drugs, crime or illegal immigration. It is the story of life on the border, told by those who live on the border.
The project — including all of the elements on this website — was shot, written and designed by three student journalists at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication: Julia Tylor, Kelsea Wasung and Mauro Whiteman.
